tarte Tarteist Toolbox Brush Set & Magnetic Palette Review

Every year Tarte comes out with a brush palette of some sort with different brushes, but this year, The tarte Tartetist ToolBox Brush Set caught my eye just because, apart from having some gorgeous gold brushes, it came with a portable magnetic palette, kind of like the Z-Palette in which you can pop in your shadows, blushes, powders or bronzers and customize your own on-the-go palette. Which I thought is quite unique!

The packaging is quite sturdy. It is a metal box, covered with a bold print of pink and purple swirl patterned cloth, quite pretty! The box is a bit bulky and heavy. There are five brushes out of which four are double-ended, so technically you get 9 brushes in all ! There is a small gold enclosure that you would press to pop open the box.

Tarte Toolbox

This Limited-edition set costs $44.00, it includes:

  • A double-ended foundation brush
  • multi-use complexion brush
  • double-ended cheek & highlighter brush
  • double-ended concealer brush
  • double-ended eyeshadow brush
  • convertible brush case and customizable palette

The double ended foundation brush – It is a fairly large flat top foundation brush, its super soft and very dense. Perfect to apply foundation seamlessly. It is fairly large so it gets the application done very quick, feels very smooth and even, there were no streak marks after using this brush. it will also be great to buff in powder foundations!

On the other end is a tapered face brush that can be used to blend out concealer or apply powder under the eyes. These brushes are super soft and I love the feel of them on my face!

Multi-use complexion brush – This one is the the only single end brush out of the set. Its a smaller fluffy brush that can be used for many things like – to contour the hollows of the cheeks, apply bronzer, blush or even mineral powder.

Tarte buffing brush

Double-ended cheek & highlighter brush – This double ended brush is my favorite out of all the brushes. The white fluffy side is delightful, it is so perfect to apply blush with. I love it!. Also, I noticed NO shedding with these brushes.

The other side is a smaller fluffy brush that can be used to dust off powder under the eyes or even apply highlighter with.

Double-ended concealer brush – One end is small rounded concealer brush that is quite multifunctional, I used for a number of things, I blended my concealer under my eyes with it, also applied concealer on my eyelids then used powder all over the lids. It can also be used for contouring the nose.

The other end is a smaller pointed tapered mini brush can be used as a lip brush or even to blend shadow under the lower lash line. It is stiff enough to also be used as an eyeliner brush.

Double-ended eyeshadow brush – One end is a crease blending brush. Its smaller and it did a great job in getting in the crease and blend out shadow really well. It is fabulous, I love smaller slightly fluffy crease brushes!

The other side is a domed shadow brush that is, quite thick and dense. I used this to pack shadow all over my eyelids and it did a great job. Its perfect to use as a single shadow brush, when you want that quick run out the door look.

Convertible brush case and customizable palette –
When you open the box you have the artistic, statement brush case also features an empty magnetic palette so you can pop in the pans of your favorite removable shadows, blushes, highlighters, contouring and setting powers, and create your own custom, on-the-go palette. There is a plastic shield separating the brush side and the magnetic palette, which is nice, for this will protect anything that you have depotted on the magnetic side. As you can see in the picture below, I put in some of my single shadows from Anastasia Beverly Hills and am loving how handy this kit is!!

Overall, tarte Tarteist Toolbox Brush Set & Magnetic Palette, is a great mix of eye and face brushes, that is completely worth the $44.00 ‘s ! It would be perfect to travel with you have all the essential brushes you would need on the go. This is Limited Edition Kit that got sold out really fast at Sephora and the Tarte website. It however is still available at QVC, if you are interested to buy it. Here.
