K-Beauty Trends – Part I

Hello There! Todays post is about some Korean Brand Products that i tried out. And, there are definitely some in here that i can swear by. Most Koreans have flawless radiant complexions. It is because they invest and take really good care of their skin. I believe they have a ten step skincare routine, which, sounds very indulging but, for me, i don’t know being a busy mum, if I will ever get that kind of time to follow so many steps in my skincare routine….although, I do like to pamper myself with good skincare products & masking at least twice a week. And then, a good skincare routine can also be followed by eating a well balanced diet, getting enough sleep & drinking a lot of fluids..

Korean Beauty Products
First I will talk about my most loved, THE most delightful Sunscreen ever and its – Missha
All-around Safe Block Aqua Sun Gel Spf30 SPF 30/PA++ . A super lightweight and refreshing moisture sun gel that absorbs is very light in texture & leaves no white cast. The gel cream is mildly fragrant, nothing overbearing at all. In fact I love the light fruity-fresh floral scent. Not to forget the the packaging, a gorgeous blue tube with a large silver cap that is so shiny & well made, keeps the tube stable on your counter top. I got mine from Korea but you can also find it on Amazon.

Missha Sunblock

I first heard about the Missha Sunblock in one of Lisa Eldridge’s Korean Skincare video here– as soon as I heard her talk about Missha & how beautiful the cream is with gel like texture that is perfect for combination skin, I jumped on it!! I had my sister send it to me from Korea, who happened to be working there around the time. And let me tell you that I do not regret my purchase, to say the least !! Its a clean, beautiful fluid consistency, protects from the UV rays, moisturizes, not oily, no white caste my Holy Grail Sunscreen which is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!! It goes very well under makeup, I highly recommend you give it a try. You can find it here on Amazon.

Laneige Water Sleeping Mask Vs Dr Jart+ Water Fuse Water-Max Sleeping Mask

Laneige is a very popular Korean brand. Comes in a 80ml Plastic Jar. I was very excited to try out this Mask. It has is an icy-blue cooling gel texture that feels therapeutic on the skin. Spreads smoothly and melts into the skin very quickly. I tried applying the mask a few times to leave it overnight on my skin, but could not get past the fragrance, so i did have to wash it off šŸ™ Yes unfortunately, most Laneige products are strongly scented.

Since Iā€™m afraid using this mask may cause irritation to my skin or break me out because of the high natural or synthetic fragrance (not sure which), i avoid using it overnight. I still like it & use it once in a while but then wash it off after 10-15 minutes of application. I am also not a fan of the Jar packaging since no matter how clean your hands are, light, bacteria & air can get in and breakdown the beneficial antioxidants.
I suggest, if you have sensitive skin you might want to do a skin test before you actually use it.

Water Sleeping Mask

Dr Jart+ Water Fuse Water-Max Sleeping Mask is also an overnight, quick-absorbing gel that strengthens the skin barrier function and delivers continuous moisture. Is a cloudy white gel texture & comes in a pump dispenser (Yay for that!!). It feels very cooling, super lightweight & spreads easily. I love this mask, and thankfully there is no noticeable fragrance. At night, I generously apply this mask, wait a couple of minutes and head to bed, next morning my skin feels soft, hydrated and plump. I also feel this mask helps even out my skin texture. I usually keep the bottle on my Nightstand for those lazy days where I either forget to apply a mask or use a wipe to take off my makeup then slap on the mask and go ta-da! No guilt šŸ˜‰
